Below you will find answers to our most commonly asked questions. If you don’t find the information you are looking for, please contact Mopeka.

Answer: For pressurized tanks, our sensors are installed on the bottom of the tank. For non-pressurized tanks, our sensors are installed on the tank top. Because of this, your pressurized tank must be above ground. You can find a full list of our Installation Instructions at the Support Section of our website under Knowledge Base Articles.

Answer: Our mobile app will work with both Android and IOS devices and will work with a majority of smartphones released within the last 5 years.

Answer: Our dashboard runs in the cloud on AWS (Amazon Web Services). Because of this, you can run the dashboard on both PC and Apple platforms and any browser you wish. All you need is an internet connection and a computer.

Answer: Yes, you do. Our mobile app gives the installer instructions and tools for installation. Our tools will help you find the best spot to install your sensors, along with instant feedback on whether you are getting a quality read inside your tank.

Answer: About 5 minutes or less and No. Our sensors are designed for anyone to install them. Our COO’s 12-year-old son installs sensors in about 4 minutes. The sensors are designed so that you do not need a technician for installation and you can install them when your drivers are dropping off fuel. This lowers the cost of deployment and allows you to get a very clear insight into your tanks without the added costs of people and time.

Answer: Yes. All MopekaIOT sensors come with a 1-3 year warranty to be free of manufacturer defects. Extended warranties are available at additional cost.

Answer: Global SIM 4G LTE CAT M1, NB-IoT. In addition, we can create custom sensors that can work on Wifi, Boosted Bluetooth, LoRaWAN, and LoRa. We can even help you set up your own LoRaWAN network just for your sensors in locations that don’t have any coverage. We will be shortly announcing a version that will have satellite connectivity in 2022.

Answer: We use tried and true technology that has been proven in the field and with the military. Our sensors are accurate down to .01 of an inch.

Answer: MopekaIOT products are built between our build plant in China and our build plant in Texas.

Answer: We typically recommend no more than 20 sensors synced to a single device. The App can handle as many as you wish, however response will slow as the phone tries to handle the Bluetooth signals of all the devices.

Answer: The LED Display is designed to be used with 2 sensors installed on a 20, 30, or 40 lb LPG cylinder. But you may use only the Mopeka App, only the LED Display, or both.

Answer: Line of sight can be up to 300 feet. But range, of course, is mostly affected by obstructions between the sensor and phone. When installed on an RV, the sensor will be detectable practically anywhere in the trailer. When installed on a tank outside a house or building, it typically can be detected thru at least one wall, and often throughout most rooms in the house.

Answer: Yes, but all sensors have an onboard temperature sensor to compensate for the temperature changes.

Answer: Yes! The liquid/gas ratio within a tank changes with temperate. Mopeka sensors are so accurate, the detect that change when the temperature drops overnight.

Answer: It is only required when using a Bridge to enable remote monitoring off your sensor.

Answer: The Mopeka App compensates for this mix. It is controlled by the country you select in the app.

Answer: The Mopeka App, besides offering the preset standard tank sizes for your country, has an arbitrary setting for both vertical and horizontal tanks. Simply measure your tank height and enter in the appropriate field.

Answer: Not all tanks need spacers. Some vertical cylinders (with foot ring) have adequate clearance for the sensor. However, we always recommend spacers for vertical cylinders that sit on the ground, to improve Bluetooth range. Large vertical cylinders like 100 lb (45kg) cylinders and 420 gallon vertical tanks, we recommend placing the cylinder on at least 2 blocks, to allow more open area for Bluetooth signal. When using a cylinder that sits in a tray, for example on an RV, or in grill, where the tray is off the ground, spacers typically are not required unless there is not clearance for the sensor. Sensors should not be contacted by tray or ground.

Answer:
Spacers add .275 inches (7mm) clearance.
The Halo adds .160 inches (4mm) clearance.

Answer: Pro and Standard sensors are .295 inches (7.3mm) in height. Please allow a little extra clearance to ensure sensors are not touched when in normal position.
